A bright, expressive brew that lets Hanan Million’s juicy fruit and floral character shine.

Coffee: 23g

Water: 380g

Water temperature: 205°F

Grind: Medium-coarse, a little coarser than your usual V60 grind

Total brew time: 2:30–3:00 minutes

Brew

0:00 — Bloom

Start your timer and pour 65g of water, making sure all the grounds are evenly saturated. Let bloom until 1:00.

1:00 — Second Pour

Pour gently in small circles until you reach 225g total water.

1:30 — Final Pour

Slowly continue pouring until you reach 380g total water.

Finish

Give the V60 a gentle swirl as it drains to help keep grounds from sticking to the sides.

Aim for a total brew time of 2:30–3:00 minutes.

Let it cool a little before your first few sips. As the temperature drops, you’ll begin to discover more of Hanan Million’s raspberry, guava, and delicate floral notes.

2. Who is Hanan Million?

Hanan Million Getachew is the producer behind this coffee, working alongside more than 150 team members in Buku, Hambella, in Ethiopia’s South Guji region.

Hanan founded ASHKIM with her mother, Asha Yuya, and named the company in honor of her mother and her sister, Kimiya. Today, coffee remains a family endeavor, and Hanan is also a member of the Ethiopia Chapter of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance.

Knowing the people behind a coffee makes every cup feel more meaningful—and gives us another reason to enjoy it together.

3. What makes this coffee special?

This coffee brings together high-elevation Ethiopian landrace varieties and careful natural processing. The cherries are grown at 2,100–2,200 meters above sea level and dried whole, allowing the fruit to remain in contact with the seed during processing.

That time with the cherry helps create its signature jammy sweetness, tropical fruit character, and delicate floral complexity.

It’s a beautiful example of how place, people, and care can come together in one cup.

4. Is this coffee for me?

If you enjoy coffees with bright acidity, layered fruit, and expressive aromatics, this is a wonderful one to explore.

It’s exciting enough for experienced coffee drinkers, while its juicy sweetness makes it approachable if you’re just beginning to discover more fruit-forward coffees.

Think raspberry, guava, florals, and citrus rather than traditional chocolate and roast flavors. Come to it with curiosity, and let the cup show you something new.

5. How should I brew it?

We recommend brewing Hanan Million as a pour-over or filter coffee, where its acidity, sweetness, and aromatics have room to shine.

Start with a clean, balanced recipe and give the brew your time and attention. Enjoy it black, and taste it as it cools—you may notice the cup move from bright citrus to sweeter fruit and florals.

A lively, expressive Ethiopian natural made for curious palates, shared moments, and everyday discovery.
